Meet the traditional owners

Scott Wurramarrba, Indigenous guide

Scott is a traditional owner and resident of Groote Eylandt. He shares his extensive knowledge of the archipelago land and waters and his people’s culture with guests to the lodge.

Scott Wurramarrba was a junior ranger with NT Parks and Wildlife before spending three years with Numburindi Rangers at Numbulwar, adjacent to Groote Eylandt on the mainland, who manage 330 000 hectares of land and sea country. As head ranger, Scott was involved in overseeing land and sea management, including crocodile surveys.

Scott’s passions are sports fishing, hunting and guiding visitors to the lodge around his land and sea. He loves adventure—he’s also guided buffalo shooting safaris in the Top End and supervised crocodile and buffalo catching in Nhulunbuy.

Scott is a colourful character and a keen story teller, and he loves welcoming visitors to his country. Especially people who come to fish!
